ICV believes that very attractive investment opportunities can be found with smaller, middle-market companies.
The owners and managers of these companies know and recognize the value of a good partner when
they see it. They also know that even high performers can benefit from good help. That’s why we look for
healthy, high-performing companies in which to invest.
We invest in companies operating in industries that possess the
following characteristics:
Strong defensible market positions;
High operating margins;
Strong operating management;
Multiple growth opportunities.
We are attracted to value creation opportunities based upon growth from new customers, distribution channels,
operating improvements, product line extensions and geographical expansion. We also understand
how to help management teams build strong businesses through acquisition.
We are convinced that strong management is the key to a successful business. In our transactions, management always has a significant equity stake. We not only look for good businesses, but for good operating partners whose knowledge, experience and skill will continue to improve the long-term performance of the companies they run.
We employ only senior bank debt when we capitalize a company. This ensures that our management partners have the operating flexibility to focus on running their businesses and not worry about the ups and downs of the capital markets. This conservative approach to capital structures does not include subordinated debt that could put the personal equity investments of ICV’s management partners at risk.
